![]() ![]() The most common question I get about my experience of shadowing the CEO is what I learned from him. Overall, it was a great opportunity for me to become more confident and comfortable among native English speakers and to absorb new essential vocabulary that allowed me to understand the matter later on. While I was getting used to everyone’s English, my notepad was always full of new abbreviations, which were widely used in this industry. It was my first experience working in an English language only environment outside university and therefore it took me a great effort to start understanding daily conversations. To be honest, the first couple of weeks was hard for me. If someone asks me today how come Edinburgh Airport was doing so well since 2012, I would say that it’s because of people who run it. Since then, I witnessed their teamwork in action many times. For example, on my first day I met almost all members of the executive team, an opportunity not afforded to many undergraduates. With Gordon, I was able to attend meetings with people across a range of roles, ranging from managers to chairmen both within and outside Edinburgh Airport.
